Chairman of the Board of Directors, Roche Holding AG
After completing his studies in economics and law at the. University of Innsbruck, Dr. Schwan began his career at Roche in Basel in 1993 as a trainee in the finance department. He subsequently held various management positions in Belgium, Germany, Singapore, and Switzerland before being appointed CEO of the Roche Group in 2008. In March 2023, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors by the Annual General Meeting.

Marco Gadola
Board of Directors & SMG Executive Board Member
Marco Gadola has been a member of the Board of Directors of DKSH since January 1, 2020, and has served as its Chairman since May 2020. From 2013 to the end of 2019, he served as CEO of the Straumann Group. Prior to that, he was Regional CEO for Asia Pacific at Panalpina from 2012 to 2013 and CFO of Panalpina from 2008 to 2012. From 2006 to 2008, he served as CFO of Straumann. Before joining Straumann for the first time in 2006, he served as CFO of Hero from 2001 to 2006 and previously worked at Hilti, Sandoz International Ltd., and the Swiss Bank Corporation. Marco Gadola is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medartis Holding AG, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Volpi Group, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Straumann Holding AG, and a member of the Board of Directors of AVAG Anlage und Verwaltungs AG, Bühler Holding AG, and the M+R Spedag Group. He is also a member of the Baselland and Obwalden Economic Development Commission. Marco Gadola holds a degree in business administration and economics from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and has completed various programs at the London School of Economics, United Kingdom; INSEAD, France; and IMD, Switzerland.

Murat Yakin
Head Coach of the Swiss National Soccer Team
Murat Yakin (born September 15, 1974, in Basel) is the head coach of the Swiss national soccer team and one of the most prominent leaders in Swiss elite sports.
After a successful international playing career—including stints with FC Basel, VfB Stuttgart, and Fenerbahçe—as well as 49 international appearances for Switzerland, he transitioned early into the role of coach and leader.

His coaching career is characterized by a consistent focus on performance and the strategic development of teams. With FC Basel, he won the Swiss championship in 2013 and led the team to the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League—a milestone in Swiss club soccer.

International stints, including at Spartak Moscow, broadened his perspective on different leadership cultures and organizational structures in high-performance environments.

Since 2021, Yakin has served as head coach of the Swiss national team, overseeing its athletic and personnel development. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2024, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Yakin is known for clear decision-making, calm leadership under pressure, and the ability to mold diverse teams into a high-performing unit—skills that are relevant far beyond the world of sports.

Markus Streckeisen
SMG President
Markus Streckeisen, who holds an Executive Master of Business Administration with specializations in real estate and mobility, served SBB AG for nearly three decades, most recently as Chief Transformation Officer, Head of Sales, member of the Executive Board, and Deputy CEO of SBB Cargo AG.
Since May 2021, Markus Streckeisen has been working as an independent entrepreneur and an external, independent board member at various companies operating in the mobility, logistics, real estate, retail, and hospitality sectors.
Markus Streckeisen is married and lives with his wife and three children in the Zurich Unterland region.

Regula Berger
CEO & Chair of the Group Executive Board, Basler Kantonalbank
Regula Berger has been CEO of Basler Kantonalbank (BKB) and Chair of the Board of Directors of Bank Cler since March 1, 2025. She has been a member of BKB’s Executive Board for eight years. Regula Berger has 20 years of experience in the financial sector, during which she has held various positions. In 2018, she initially took over as head of the Legal & Compliance division at BKB; starting in 2021, she was responsible for sales to commercial clients; and in 2023, she was promoted to Deputy CEO of the group.
Previously, she held positions at Zürcher Kantonalbank and the Swiss Takeover Board. She holds three university degrees: she is a lawyer and also earned an LL.M., followed by a Master’s in Banking from Rochester Bern.
In addition to her full-time professional activities, she serves as an arbitrator for the International Capital Markets Association and served for many years as a justice of the peace. She sits on the boards of various foundations and associations and speaks as an expert on financial market topics at universities and conferences.

Manuel Kunzelmann
CEO, Migros Bank AG & Member of the SMG Executive Board
Manuel Kunzelmann has been CEO of Migros Bank AG since May 2020. Prior to that, he held various management positions at Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank starting in 2009, most recently as a member of the Executive Board responsible for strategy and market services. Before that, he gained ten years of management experience at UBS. In addition to his role as CEO of Migros Bank, he serves on the board of directors of Viseca Payment Services SA, is president of the CYP Association, and is a member of the executive board of the Association of Swiss Domestic Banks (KIB). He holds a degree in Business Administration (FH) and has an Executive MBA from the University of Zurich as well as a postgraduate degree in Business Informatics.

Swiss AI Board Member and SMG Member
Dominic Largo is an experienced entrepreneur and board member with many years of leadership experience in the areas of digital transformation, e-commerce, and business development. Since 2024, he has served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ValueOn AG, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BottleButler AG, a leading independent online platform for spirits and wine in Switzerland. Prior to that, he founded and developed several successful companies and brands, including BottleButler. His professional career also includes leadership and strategic roles at renowned companies such as Chocolat Frey, Porsche Design Group, Jung von Matt, and Hawas Switzerland. Dominic Largo holds a lic.oec.HSG and an M.A. HSG from the University of St. Gallen and combines entrepreneurial thinking with in-depth expertise in digitalization, transformation, and leadership.
He is a passionate foodie, family man, and long-distance runner.

Nora Teuwsen
Chairwoman of the Executive Board of ABB Switzerland & SMG; Member of the Board of Directors
Nora Teuwsen is Chair of the Executive Board of ABB Switzerland and a member of the Supervisory Board at ABB Germany. A dual citizen of Switzerland and Germany, she served as Group General Counsel at SBB from 2013 to 2019. During her career, she was also a partner at a Zurich law firm and held various leadership positions at SBB, particularly at SBB Real Estate. Nora Teuwsen also serves on the board of trustees of the “Menschen für Menschen” Foundation and on the board of directors of Raiffeisenbank St. Gallen.

Daniel Erne
Chairman of the Board of Directors, ERNE Group
Daniel Erne grew up in Laufenburg (AG) and earned both his high school diploma and his degree in business administration and economics in Basel. After gaining initial professional experience in management consulting, he joined the family business, where he held various positions and led numerous projects over the following years.
In 2010, he made a conscious decision to change direction and pursued his interests by studying fine art photography in New York. He then lived in Berlin, where he worked as a freelance photographer.
After returning to Switzerland, he rejoined the family business and took on various roles on the board of directors, particularly within the subsidiaries. In 2023, he succeeded his father as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERNE Group.
Daniel Erne lives in Thalwil (ZH) with his wife and their two-and-a-half-year-old son.

Monika Rühl
Chair of the Executive Board, economiesuisse, and Member of the SMG Board of Directors
Monika Rühl has been Chair of the Executive Board of economiesuisse since September 1, 2014. The umbrella organization for the Swiss business community represents the interests of the business sector in the political process and advocates for optimal framework conditions. Its members include 100 industry associations, 20 cantonal chambers of commerce, and several individual companies. In total, economiesuisse represents 100,000 Swiss companies from all sectors, accounting for 2 million jobs in Switzerland. After completing her studies in Romance languages (French and Italian) at the University of Zurich, Monika Rühl underwent diplomatic training in Bern, Brussels, and Geneva. After holding various positions at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), including at the Swiss Mission to the United Nations in New York, she served as a personal aide to Federal Councilor Joseph Deiss (at the FDFA in 2002, and at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (FDEA) from 2003 to 2006) and subsequently served as head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) with the title of ambassador and as a member of the executive board. In 2008, she was appointed Federal Council Delegate for Trade Agreements. From 2011 to 2014, she headed the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research (EAER).

Getting there by public transportation

From Basel SBB Station, take tram No. 11 toward the St. Louis border and get off at the St. Johanns-Tor stop. The ride takes about 12 minutes. You can purchase a 1-zone ticket. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the St. Johann passenger boat terminal, Pier 1.

Traveling by car

Unfortunately, you cannot park your car at the boat landing. Public parking near the landing:

About a 10-minute walk to the dock.
Please use the “Schanzenstrasse” exit. At the exit, turn right and walk along Schanzenstrasse to the Rhine, then turn left and follow the riverbank until you reach the St. Johann Passenger Boat Terminal, Pier 1. Our SMG hostesses will be waiting for you there before you board the Thurgau Gold.

If you prefer to take a taxi, use the “Petersgraben” exit. (Pier 1, St. Johanns-Rheinweg 109).
