A team always wins - but the question is often: why not mine?

Every victory in sport and every business win is the result of people's achievements, the combination of their talent, their passion, their individuality, but also their imperfections and many failed attempts.

What can a person with responsibility for leadership and results do to increase their team's chances of success?

Anyone with responsibility for leadership and teamwork faces a variety of challenges in ever-changing situations and constellations. Mastering these demands a great deal of personality. First and foremost, they require managers to be willing to reflect on themselves and develop themselves and others.

Bernhard Heusler took over the management and chairmanship of FC Basel 1893 in 2009 and stepped down in 2017 after winning eight championship titles in a row. Both in his sporting environment and as a business lawyer and member of the Board of Directors, he encountered a variety of situations that challenged him.

We look forward to him sharing his diverse experiences and insights and providing valuable inspiration on the importance of leadership and teamwork as success factors in sport and business.

Dr. Bernhard Heusler
Former President of FC Basel 1893, Partner of HWH AG
With a doctorate in law, Bernhard Heusler began his professional career as a commercial lawyer in Basel. From 2003, he worked as a consultant and board member for FC Basel 1893. In 2009, he took over the operational management of the club and became chairman in 2012. After eight championship titles in a row, six appearances in the Champions League and an increase in turnover from CHF 30 million to CHF 130 million, he stepped down in June 2017. As the founder and partner of Heusler Werthmüller Heitz AG (HWH), he has since been active as a coach and consultant in sport and business as well as a speaker and author of a book on leadership and teamwork published in 2023. He chairs the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation and the Foundation for Sick Children. He also sits on the boards of companies and organisations in various sectors.

Thomas Amstutz has been CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Felschlösschen Getränke AG since 2012. After graduating in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), he joined Unilever and worked as Brand Manager in Zurich and as European Innovation Manager in Paris. From 1998, Amstutz served as Hero's Marketing Manager and took over as General Manager of Hero Switzerland in 2001. In 2004, he was appointed to the Executive Board of the Hero Group. From 2005 - 2008, he already headed Feldschlösschen Getränke AG as CEO, before serving as CEO of Brasseries Kronenbourg in Paris for four years and simultaneously holding the office of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Feldschlösschen Getränke AG.
