Thanks to its ability to analyse and quickly create new content, generative AI can act as a unique productivity booster.

In August 2024, ‘The economic opportunity of AI in Switzerland’ - a study commissioned by Google - revealed the huge potential that generative AI harbours.  It could increase Switzerland's gross domestic product (GDP) by up to 11 per cent over the next ten years. This corresponds to an annual increase of CHF 80 to 85 billion.

  • What are the prerequisites for this?
  • How do we deal with the associated challenges in terms of data protection, transparency and the risk of over-regulation?

We are delighted to get to the bottom of these key questions in an interview with Christine Antlanger-Winter, Country Director, Google Switzerland.

Google's mission is to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Through products and platforms such as Search, Maps, Gmail, Android, Google Play, Chrome and YouTube, Google plays a significant role in the daily lives of billions of people and has become one of the most recognisable companies in the world. Google is also a leader in the field of artificial intelligence and named itself an AI first company back in 2018. Switzerland also plays an important role for Google in the global development of AI through its research centre in Zurich.
Google has been active in Switzerland for 20 years, since 2004. With around 5000 employees from around 85 nationalities, Google Switzerland has developed into one of the world's leading engineering and research centres. Here in Zurich, talented engineers and researchers work at the forefront of AI development and contribute to important advances. More about Google in Switzerland here.
